First and foremost- we advocate photography of specimens rather than collection.
Photos show us what type of environment the animals is living in and some of it's activity. So a simple photo of the animal doing what it does naturally is referred over handling and disturbing the animal.
We realize, of course, that some species aren't about to sit still while you try to get close such as Black Racers and Skinks and that you may have to catch them for a good photo; that's why we are including a section on Proper and SAFE handling (mostly for those that are new herpers) I thought I should mention that so that the experienced herpers don't get offended.
We have a list of things we recommend that herpers take into the field - again - that's mostly for new herpers - and we want a lot of new herpers to get involved!!
This is a beginning statement of what we are trying to do.
On to the Mission Statement
