Insect Forensics Program at CCEEC
The Carbon County Environmental Education Center will offer a program on forensic entomology on Thursday, August 20th at 6:00 pm.
“Bugs and Bodies” will focus on the identification of insects taking part in the natural process of decomposition. Insect expert Zachary Venable will explain the role of flies, beetles and similar creatures at varying stages of decay. Insects on actual animal carcasses will be examined.
The event is free for CCEEC members, and a nominal fee is requested of non-members. Law enforcement officers are invited, though the program is open to everyone age 12 and up. Pre-registration is required.
CCEEC is located along Lentz Trail, just outside Jim Thorpe, at the west end of Mauch Chunk Lake Park. For more information or to register, call (570) 645-8597 or email the center at cceec@ptd.net.
